Habit 9: Eat Only at Meal Times and When Hungry

Habit 9: Eat Only at Meal Times and When Hungry

If it isn’t breakfast, lunch, or dinner, always ask yourself “Am I hungry?” before you eat.  If the answer is no, don’t eat until you are hungry.  Sometimes this might mean saving something for later (like birthday cake at the office).  If you find yourself seeking out food when you aren’t hungry, try to identify why.  Is it habit?  Are you bored?  Are you thirsty? Are you lonely?  Are you upset?  Identify another way to meet your need or practice self-soothing.
